In My Mind

  • An artist may enter up to two art quilts or two garments.
  • The entries may be the work of one person or more than one person, as long as proper credit is given to all involved in the actual completion of the quilt. The person entering the quilt must have been directly involved in the quilt’s creation.
  • An entry fee of $20.00 (USD) will be paid per quilt entered.
  • There is no made-by date.
  • There is no size limitation, but sizes must be noted on the forms.
  • Artists will submit a brief Artist’s Statement.
  • Artists will submit an overall and detail photograph.
  • Artists will submit a front and back photograph of the garment.
  • The garment will be photographed on a mannequin against a neutral background.
  • High resolution pictures of 2400 pixels as the widest or longest dimension are recommended.
  • Do not exceed 3MB. Each image should be identified by title and artist.

  • There should be no ribbons or papers attached to the quilt.
  • The photograph should be taken from the center front of the quilt.
  • The quilt should be hung as straight and flat as possible.
  • Photos that meet our standards must be submitted in order to be considered.
  • Quilts made from kits are not eligible to enter. A kit is defined as a unit for retail sale composed of patterns, fabrics, and quilting designs.
  • No quilts will be offered for sale at the Virtual Quilt Festival.
  • The selected works will be shown virtually. Do not send quilts to the festival.
  • Virtual Quilt Festival will be available for viewing from December 3, 2020, until January 10, 2021.
  • Copyright permission: Entry into the exhibition automatically grants copyright permission for the image of the quilt and/or all or part of the Artist’s Statement about the quilt to be used in articles, ads, promotions, catalogs, books, magazines, websites (including any webcast coverage), blogs, CDs, DVDs, current event news coverage, television productions, and/or multimedia productions for and about the International Quilt Festival, International Quilt Market, or for and about the special exhibit or for and about quilting and developing creativity. The quilt artist retains copyright to the quilt and will be credited in any usage.
  • Two experienced jurors will select the finalists in each category.
  • Upon viewing the quilts, the jurors reserve the right to move the quilt into a different category. The decision is up to the prerogative of the jurors.
  • The official language of the festival is English.
  • Employees of Quilts, Inc., or their immediate family members are ineligible to enter.

 

 

Judging

  • The Best of Show winner will be announced on Saturday, December 5.
  • No need to be present to win.
  • Prizes will be sent to the winners by December 11.

 

Timeline for the Quilt Contest:

  • Open: October 2 thru October 31.
  • Selected artists will be notified by November 23.
  • Top finalists per contest will be announced on the morning of Thursday, December 3.
  • Individual contest winners will be announced on the morning of Saturday, December 5.
  • Best of Show winner will be announced the evening of Saturday, December 5.
  • Prizes will be shipped to the winners by Friday, December 11.
  • Quilts will be on virtual display through Sunday, January 10, 2021.
